First packrafting trip

January 2022  I was looking for a nice packrafting spot nearby. The big advantage of being in south is a warm winter, while our friends up north are freezing. Although there are lakes very close to the town, I was craving for a rive and what better choice than Sipsey! It was the first week of January that we packed and hit the road. The packraft doesn't fit in the ultralight bill but it opens a gate to lot of possibilities. Basically you are not limited to many obstacles you can encounter in an expedition and these pacrrafts are getting lighter and more durable. We hiked the first day. We passed the river and camped on the other side. We had a nice evening and good night sleep. phone tripod mount, kind of! We started the next day with a nice and hot breakfast. and coffee of course! We started having fun and experimenting with the packraft. It is not as easy as a kayak but it's reliable under circumstances. We had a nice rest and we hit the road for another destination in Tennes...

Sometimes two wrongs make a right!

1- When I was an undergraduate student, I started taking electronic courses for my elective coursework. It was supposed to be a more science course and not much of engineering but they made a mistake and sent us an engineer instructor. So instead of learning about semi-conductors, he started teaching us about designing circuits, logical circuits and wi-fi transmitters! It appeared to I made a wrong judgment. 2- Couple years back, when the pandemic lockdown started, I decided to use a Raspberry Pi for remote access. One of best decisions of my life! The following decision however wasn't very smart; I purchased a UPS hat just to make sure a full time access while I can't go on campus. Well the hat was designed for version 3 and din't support my version 4 and it didn't worth returning, so it was laying around and reminding me of a wrong decision. 3- Last week I was frustrated by unstable solar panel charger and in a moment of enlightenment I found a perfect solution for i...

Birdy

On our daily walk, Twyla found a bird. Apparently she was heat shocked and couldn't fly. She was like paralyzed and couldn't handle moving around. We took her in. Kept her for two days, until she started moving around. I put her on the balcony then but she still couldn't fly. She spent a night there. I was moving her back and forth (inside when it was hot, outside when it was cooler) and finally she recovered and flew on top of the tree. She spent another night on top of the tree and finally she managed to go back to her life. I managed to keep water and food around her. Sometimes life is too fragile. She may not have survived, if Twyla didn't find her.

A little of winter

March 2022  Winter in south has a strange feeling. It's cold but not cold enough to stop the nature; so you see the nature is slowed down but not fully stopped. I was missing snowy days, even a little white in the air could make me happy; so you can imagine I decided to hit the road as soon as I saw there is a chance of snow storm north AL, MS and south of TN. My apartment was a mess when I started packing. Twyla knew I am up to something but I don't think she had any idea about the adventure we were heading to; neither did I, to be honest. I drove whole afternoon and when I arrived at my campsite, there were few other people camping with big RVs. I found a quiet corner and soon I was ready for a supper and a nice sleep. There was no sign of any snow yet but it turned very cold after sunset. These modification on camper have worked very well. It was not a lot work but it was very efficient to lift everything up so there is more space on the floor and we can stretch out and be m...
